tater tots

the other day the kids and i were in the car and i called braeden "tater tot" for some reason. i really don't even know why i used the word or how it came up, but he freaked. he started complaining about "you call me the meanest name!" and "my name is braeden...use my real name". i held back and remembered that my son is destined for nerdville...then i realized he had no idea what a tot was. he really didn't have a clue. apparently michael and i have never fed him tater tots! what kind of parents are we? i knew we didn't ever make french fries, and that we are strange eaters, but never a tot? i tried to think of places i could buy tots. sonics is the only place i can even think of to purchase tater tots on a menu. i guess we've never taken the kids there either! i can pinpoint his first french fry, i can recall his first chicken nugget (not veggie nuggets), but i have no idea if he has ever eaten a tot. poor kid, he'll be eight next month! ava's birthday is sunday, so i guess we'll take them out for birthday tater tots. if we use the birthday, maybe they'll believe that you can only have them on your actual birthday.
