Attention All Friends and Family!!

It's that time...you guys can start fighting over my valuables. The flu has taken over my body and refuses to leave. Please be kind and leave the children a few items.

My sore, frail body can't type much longer....

Seaside Inn

Friday night we went to Seaside and stayed at the newly remodeled Inn by the Sea/Vera Bradley Inn. Formerly Josephine's Inn. I'll spare you the details off my dirty tub and how we checked out early and asked for our money back...aside from all that, I can't wait to go back again! Barbara Bradley herself helped design every room at the inn. The wallpaper, paints, fixtures and furnitures were beautiful. The inn merged two of my favorite things...hand bags and vacations!

Robbins' Pizzeria

This afternoon I let the kids help me make a "homemade" pizza. Braeden spread the sauce and helped sprinkle cheese, then Ava finished up the seasonings and more cheese. They both put on their aprons and chef hats and really got in to cooking. I definitely need to do this more often.

Chinese New Year!

This year we celebrated Chinese New Year! The kids made clay figures to represent the year they were born under. Braden was born in the year of the tiger and Ava was the sheep. I searched out decorations, food and chopsticks. Three stores later, I'm pulling up the driveway when my cell phone rings...it was my niece Darcy. She was having a fundraiser for her drama class that night at Chick-fil-a...in thirty minutes. Well, 1. I can't say "no" to her, 2. We love the chick and 3. she was going to be in a munchkin costume!! We threw all the take-out we just picked up in the fridge and called daddy to hurry home. She was adorable and we made more memories.
All decorations were left out and Chinese New Year was celebrated the next night.

Compliment Sandwich

compliment+truth+compliment=compliment sandwich

I learned this technique in my bible study class and here's how I tried it:

"Baby, you look cute. Take the stinkn' trash out. I like those jeans."

"Your teeth are shiny. No, I'm not it the mood. Happy Chinese New Year!"

"Your shoes are great. OMG take care of the screaming kids! Your hair gel smells yummy"

I have to share these....

AvaGrace was getting ready for school yesterday and I was helping her with her valentines. I noticed some of the cards had solid heart stickers and some had stickers that were torn. I asked her if she needed my help taking the stickers off the pad to which she replied, "No mom. I'm giving my friends the good stickers and the kids I don't play with are getting the broken hearts." Well, needless to say I almost peed myself in shock. I explained then that we don't do things like that and that she would be devastated if someone did that to her. Her reply.... "Mom, no one would give ME a broken heart." How do you deal with things like these? Smack her because she's arrogant or hug her for her self confidence?

Monday she was running through the house trying to find a tissue. I asked if she was ok, and she said, "Mommy, I got "bless you" on my dress!"
Once again, I laughed so hard a little tinkle came out!
