Last week was spring break for the area county schools, so we home school moms decided it was a great time to break too! As if we don't break enough for trips to Target or get enough rest teaching math in our pajamas. I seriously can't count the times we've completed vocabulary in the car or bath tub. The other moms think I've gone over to the "un-school" side because I'm not rigid and I wear pants. That's ok. They also bashed my thoughts of me being conservative. Apparently I'm not as conservative as I thought. If they only knew how very unconservative I was before they met me! Anyway, back to our raging spring break story. We started the week off with school on Monday (I had to catch some things up) and Tuesday was a trip to the Pensacola Museum of Art. Braeden and I had a "date". We left AvaGrace home with Michael, who had taken the day off, and went downtown for the afternoon. The PMA had an exhibit by William Wegman running and we loved it! He was commissioned my Polaroid to use a new camera decades ago and took pictures of his dogs in amazing scenes. Braeden was impressed.
Wednesday was a normal day with art and tennis lessons in the afternoon. Thursday we went to the Zoo! We bought a year pass and have only been twice since December, so I made myself take them. I invited my mom. That was interesting. The poor zoo hasn't recovered form the hurricanes and has many exhibits closed. Good thing they're still pretty young and have a dork for a mom who can turn anything into a blast! We laughed at monkeys throwing poop and debated why the "red tailed baboon" was named red tailed when his tail was grey and his butt was red! No one on the entire planet would care except for Braeden, who was completely unnerved by the "naming error" (his words not mine). After the zoo they spent the night with mimi, but found their ways home early Friday morning. I thought I was going to have Friday off and stayed up late Thursday night, forcing us to nap a lot on Friday. That evening we took the kids downtown to Gallery Night. They enjoyed the cookies and punch while we enjoyed the art and music. All enjoyed the trolley tour except for me who wanted to vomit! Saturday I took Braeden to chess club at UWF and Sunday Michael took him to play soccer. Are you noticing a pattern...I just drive my children to things they enjoy. You didn't see a random vacay for me in there did you? So, I guess that wraps up our spring break. Not as exciting as some I remember. No kegs, no dingy hotels in Panama City, no road trips...but I did come close to puking!
